Thanks to dVerse poets I was introduced to G-Man’s 55 word challenge. Now, I think everyone knows how much I love flash fiction challenges, and this one is even tighter than the 100 word one I tackle so often. So…here goes. Not an erotic one, today though…

“Spill.”
“No.” Syd peeled at her bottle’s label.
“I deserve to know.”
She snorted. Ted’s hand slapped the table. Her heart raced.
“No. You don’t.” Syd rose, tossed a bill, then an envelope, on the table. ”You’re due in court. I’m leaving.”
“You’re a cunt.”
“And you’re,” she paused and examined him, “not worth it.”

dang…tight story…lots to explore still in this one…but really well done…glad we could point you this way too…g-man is a great guy…and the 55 bunch another great group of peeps as well…
Thanks, Brian…I am definitely enjoying the dVerse prompts and I love trying to snug stories into tight spaces. I’ve gotten pretty good with 100 words…now I see a new, smaller crevice to tuck tales into. I’m looking forward to adding it to my round of kick-the-muse-in-gear exercises. :)

Thanks, Margaret :) In my mind this is the end, but the lovely thing about flash fiction is the relationship you get to have with the reader. There’s so much negative space for their own experiences to flesh out not just the characters, but the plot.
